The finest in Québec
Although anglers, hunters and nature lovers have been heading to Abitibi-Témiscamingue
for years, and some from generation to generation, the region remains
one of the best-kept secrets in Québec for fishing and hunting adventures.
Of course, such an assertion must be sustained with facts. So many
lures are wiggling in front of the eyes of the potential tourist that
it becomes an act of blind faith to choose from such countless enticing
baits!
For a start, just imagine this… 25 153 square miles of magnificent
forests dotted with some 70 000 lakes and rivers of pristine waters.
The mere fact of moving in such hugeness makes one realize that nature
still has its strongholds of wild shelters for genuine native species.
Indigenous! Wild! Pristine! Instinct facing instinct!
Thanks to its scarce population in a remote immensity, Abitibi-Témiscamingue
has preserved some of its wildness where abounding indigenous species
reign. Kingdom of the abundant walleye and the fierce Northern Pike,
most of the lakes connect into gigantic webs framed by thick forests.
Lakes are the inescapable meeting place of the impressive black bear,
the majestic moose, flocks of geese and ducks. Nature has its own
way to manage such abundance while still offering beauty and peacefulness.
If you are one of those sophisticated, technology-oriented fisherman
or hunter, be aware that in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, your instinct
remains the most refined weapon to measure with the wild, either swimming, prowling or flying. Remember,
here, you are on the territory of the native species!
